Storyteller

Theater was my first love and the foundation of my life as a performer. Long before my work in music, and alongside my visual art practice, I was immersed in the world of acting, storytelling, and live performance.

I earned my BFA in Acting and Musical Theater from Emerson College in Boston and later studied Method Acting in New York City at the Gately-Poole Conservatory. While living in NYC I was immersed in the vibrant world of nightclubs and cabarets, and also worked as a singing waitress — which turned out to be one of the most entertaining and surprisingly effective training grounds for a performer.

What has always drawn me to theater is the immediate connection with an audience. There’s something magical about being inside a story unfolding live on stage, feeling the anticipation, laughter, and energy of the audience as the performance comes to life.

Years later, I returned to the stage with my original one-woman show, My Beautiful Midlife Crisis, which premiered in Los Angeles and was later performed at the Whitefire Theatre’s SoloFest, the largest solo theatre festival on the West Coast.

MY BEAUTIFUL MIDLIFE CRISIS is the story of a woman who undergoes a spiritual crisis after experiencing a sudden Kundalini awakening. This calamitous event hurls her deep into the “Dark Night of the Soul”, more commonly referred to as a Mid-Life Crisis, forcing her to confront the disguise she’s been hiding behind for most of her life. She begins the courageous journey of befriending the imposter behind the mask in order to find the truth of who she is, and discovers she’s no longer willing to be defined by her past or her assumed roles. Will she risk it all for a chance at the largeness of life to which she feels she is being summoned?

What's Next?

The premiere of my one-woman show, My Beautiful Midlife Crisis, was a tremendous success, with rave reviews and a sold-out house at The Hudson Theatres in Los Angeles on December 4, 2022. The response was so enthusiastic that I was invited back to perform the show again at the Whitefire Theatre’s SoloFest—the largest solo theatre festival on the West Coast—on February 8, 2023.

I had planned to continue on the solo performance circuit in Los Angeles and was preparing to appear in the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June of 2023 when life decided to add its own plot twist: I broke my kneecap in half. Needless to say, that brought my performing plans to a sudden pause.

During the time away from the stage, I realized there were many things I wanted to refine and change in the script. After such a long break, I began to feel that if I returned to the stage, it would be with an entirely new show. That idea is still simmering.

In the meantime, I have stayed deeply immersed in creativity. My focus has shifted toward a growing body of mixed media collage work—another exciting chapter in my artistic journey.

PAST SHOWS

A Rockin’ Cabaret is an interactive musical storytelling show that I created and perform with my husband and longtime musical partner, award-winning pianist Rich Wyman. The show blends powerful musical performances with humor, personal stories, and the songs that have influenced us — and so many others — over the years.

Rather than focusing on original material, this show celebrates the music that shaped us as artists. Throughout the evening we perform a wide range of classic songs that have influenced generations of listeners, while weaving in stories about our own musical journeys and the artists who inspired us along the way.

What makes A Rockin’ Cabaret especially fun is the interaction with the audience.

A Rockin' Cabaret

At different moments in the show we invite audience members to share songs that have influenced their lives, and if we know them, we play them right on the spot — which makes every performance completely unique.

The show also incorporates my love of theater and storytelling, allowing me to move throughout the room and interact with the audience while Rich anchors the performance from the piano with his electrifying rock-and-roll style.

A Rockin’ Cabaret premiered at The Rockwell Listening Room in Park City, Utah on December 28, 2019, where it was met with rave reviews and a standing ovation. The intimate setting of the Rockwell created the perfect environment for a show built around connection, storytelling, and the shared experience of live music.
